Honoring your own culture in a unique, personal, and playful way is at the heart of my work. This shows in the use of traditional Surinamese elements, which appear in different ways in my art. They contrast with more modern figures and elements. My queer identity is also a big part of my art.

Color also plays an important role. I always see the combination of different colors as a way to strengthen each other, never as a contrast. This creates a play of identity, tradition, and color, where I tell my own story.
